This work is an experimental direct animation created by laser printing onto 16mm film, exploring an alternative way of engaging with the cinematic medium itself.
The piece investigates transitions between multiple spatial layers, from real-world scenes to abstract imagery, and from natural landscapes to structures of color blocks. The inspiration comes from a winter scene in Central Park: against the white snow, children wearing brightly colored ski suits move across the landscape, creating constantly shifting patterns of color and rhythm.
These moving patches of color are reinterpreted as visual structures on the film surface, transforming lived visual experience into an abstracted cinematic language. At the same time, the work highlights the unique texture and possibilities of film as a physical medium.
